ABOUT WCT ENGINEERING BERHAD

The current economic climate has proved challenging for all Malaysians, particularly those involved in the construction industry. As a result, the distinction between companies with standards of mediocrity and excellence has never been clearer.

WCT Engineering Berhad has a strong, twenty-year histopry and has proved its mettle over the past few years. The year 1999 started off extremelywell, with a transfer to the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in January, followed by the Company posting as pre-tax profit of RM34.2 million. The subsequent years saw further success with pre-tax profit increasing to RM46.5 million in 2000 and RM57.1 million in 2001.

This certainly bodes well for a Company with twenty years of experience that is known for its conservatuive business practice and quiet determination.

Its impressive track record that includes the completion of the RM300 million Sepang F1 Circuit in 14months, the construction of the Subang Jaya Interchange and its role as the leading earthwork contractor for KLIA, speaks for itself.

In addition, WCT Engineering Berhad's current porfolio has projects worth RM900 million. The projects were mainly undertaken by the government agencies; Jabatan Kerja Raya, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd. The recent award of the RM408 million office buildings project at Lot 2G3 by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd. in April 2001 marks another milestone for the company and will contribute positively to the turnover and profits for the coming years. However, true to form, the Company is not restingon its laurels. Besides its core activities in civil engineering and building construction, WCT Engineering Berhad has also expanded into property development. In addition, as part of the CIDB Consortium, the company is actively seeking business opportunities for highway construction in India.

The Company's initial venture into property development has been in the Bukit Tinggi township in Klang which started in July 1997 with encouraging results. For the first phase, RM510 million of property has been sold out. Phase 1 of the second phase which is adjacent to the initial property development was launched in March 2001, with 60% of properties sold on launch day, and 92% sold to date. The next phase, offering 301 units of double-storey terrace house will be launched this month. A similarly encouraging response is expected as Bukit Tinggi is an integrated development with an emphasis on modern, family living with amenities that include schools, playgrounds and parks, hypermarkets and commercial areas.

With its solid track records, current projects and future prospects, WCT Engineering Berhad certainly looks poised for continued success.
